Seated Virgin and Child; Christ in long robe; Christ seated on the Virgin's left knee; blessing gesture; Christ holding a book; Virgin holding a fruit in her right hand; throne decorated with small lion heads; Virgin trampling a monster under each foot (basilisks).

Traces of polychromy.
Reverse
Carved in the round, except for the back of the throne, which is flat and smooth with a cavity, possibly to house a relic.
Object Condition
Missing: part of the throne; toes of Christ. Head and right arm of Christ, and right arm of the Virgin have broken away and have been glued back into place.
Provenance
Carrand collection: bequeathed by Louis Carrand (d. 1888) to the Museo del Bargello in 1888.
