Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy and gilding: back of the throne decorated with painted arches (tracery); inside of the Virgin's cloak.

Reverse
Carved in the round. The back of the throne is curving outwards and decorated with painted arches (tracery).

Object Condition
Missing: head of the Virgin, lower part of the Virgin's cloak and of the throne (replaced with brown wax in the 19th century).
Breaks in the drapery. Some part are extremely thin.The wax partially melted onto the Child's face, the shoulders and the veil of the Virgin.

Provenance
Carrand collection: bequeathed by Louis Carrand (d. 1888) to the Museo del Bargello in 1888.
