Deposition with the Virgin holding Christ's hand; Joseph of Arimathea holding Christ's body; man with pincers removing the nail from Christ's feet; saint John the Evangelist.
Medallions containing trefoils enclosing protruding cones in the spandrels.

Hinges
Traces of three missing hinges on the left side.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy: traces of painted haloes; the sun and moon were also painted, on either side of the cross.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. White ink inscription: 'Collection Gillot XIIIe siècle, exposition 1900'.

Object Condition
Two large holes in the upper part of the panel. Two smaller central holes in the upper and lower part of the panel.

Provenance
Collection of Charles Gillot (by 1900; no. 76 in the inventory carried out after his death and dated 11 April 1903); private collection, London (in 2010)(bought from the Gillot sale, Christie's, Paris, 4 March 2008, lot 245).
