Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy. Brown stains.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Label with provenance information: 'Presented by C. Fairfax Murray Esq. May 1917'.

Object Condition
Missing: rest of the panel which would probably have included an architectural framework and angel holding a candlestick on either side, following the typical 'Vierge glorieuse' iconography.
Later hole in the upper part and lower part from border.

Provenance
Collection of Charles Fairfax-Murray (b. 1849, d. 1919): his bequest to the Museum in 1917.
