Carved in the round but lower relief on the back. Printed description (possibly from a sale catalogue) pasted on the back: Inscription: '[Ch]rist. Ivory figure [...]1/2 inches long [...] Said to have been found during excavations on Tower Hill and has certainly the appearance of having been buried for centuries'. Handwritten ink inscription: '61'.
Object Condition
Missing: arms of Christ.
The ivory has taken on a green tinge from having been buried.
