Ivory;metal (remains of two hinges)

Height: 225mm
Width: 101mm

Register 1: Christ washing the feet of the apostles.
Register 2: Agony in the Garden (Christ at Gethsemane).
Register 3: Crucifixion; swooning Virgin supported by Holy Women; saint John the Evangelist and onlookers holding scrolls.

Randall 1985 and Museum's opinion 2010: French or Mosan, c. 1400.

Hinges
Traces of three missing hinges on the left side.

Object Condition
Discoloured.
Hole in the centre of the upper arcade. Chip in the lower arcade. Vertical cracks.

Comments
The left leaf, carved by a different hand, was in a private collection in London in 2010.

Provenance
Collection of A. J. B. Beresford Hope, Esq. (b. 1820, d. 1887). Charles Tesart collection: sold, Paris, 24-25 June 1924, lot 88. Bought by Henry Walters from Henry Daguerre in Paris in 1925; Walters Art Museum, 1931, by bequest.
