Wing, left
Register 1: Annunciation; dove of the Holy Spirit; vase of lilies. Visitation.
Register 2: Adoration of the Magi.
Wing, right
Register 1: Nativity and Annunciation to the Shepherds; swaddled Christ.
Register 2: Presentation in the Temple; maid holding a candlestick and a basket of doves brought as offerings; Christ standing on the altar between the Virgin and Simeon.

Hinges
Two later hinges.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of gilding and polychromy: gold (along the hems; crown; architectural details), red (decoration in the spandrels; architectural details), blue (lining of garments), green (dot patterns for the grass).

Reverse
Flat and smooth.

Object Condition
Missing: candlestick held by the maid in the Presentation partly broken.

Provenance
Said by Darcel and Basilewski to have come from the collection of Prince Petr Soltykoff (b. c. 1801, d. 1889), but does not feature in the 1861 Soltykoff sale catalogue. Collection of Alexander Petrovich Basilewski (b. 1829, d. 1899), Paris, since 1865; acquired by the Museum in 1885.
