Traces of polychromy and gilding: throne, neck, hair, crown of the Virgin, along the hems.
Reverse
Carved in the round. Three rosettes decorating the back of the bench.
Object Condition
Missing: right hand of the Virgin; crown partly broken.
Provenance
Probably from Wassenberg (district of Heinsberg); collection of the headmaster Hermann Joseph M. H. Steiger (b. 1847, d. 1905), Düsseldorf-Derendorf; by bequest to the Suermondt-Museum in 1905.
