Foliated decoration; palmettes.

Bruges 2010: Northern France or Flanders (?), 1st half of the 13th century (?).

Object Condition
Various holes along the curve of the volute, probably for lost ornament in ivory, silver or copper.

Comments
This crozier head probably was originally attached to a staff of wood or metal.

Provenance
Cistercian Abbey of Ten Duinen, Koksijde (probably belonged to one of its first abbots), which became the Grootseminarie. Bought by the City of Bruges in 1971.
