Attack on the Castle of Love; courting couples (meeting of lovers); youth chucking his lover under the chin; couple embracing; knights in armour assaulting the castle; ladies throwing roses on the attackers; lady pouring baskets of roses from the battlements; lady brandishing a flowery branch; knight on horseback entering the castle; knight holding a sword by its blade; catapult to throw baskets of roses; man holding a hammer; horses; shields; portcullis.
Masks in the spandrels. Foliated corner terminals.

Reverse
Back turned with a depression for (missing) mirror. But seemingly no screw thread to secure this piece to another one which would close over the mirror.

Object Condition
Two small holes in the upper part of the piece (probably for later hanging?).

Provenance
Carrand collection: bequeathed by Louis Carrand (d. 1888) to the Museo del Bargello in 1888.
