Inv. B 23

Ivory

Height: 81mm
Width: 27mm
Depth: 10mm

Side 1: Standing Virgin and Child.
Side 2: Crucifixion; chalice collecting Christ's blood at the foot of the cross.

Museum's opinion 2010: France, 2nd half of the 14th century.

Attribution
Unknown

Reverse
Carved on both sides.

Object Condition
Missing: left side, right side, upper part; probably shaved in its lower part to separate it from a lower register. The presence of remains of a band of rosettes in the lower part of the fragment seems to indicate that this piece originally featured more than one register, with another scene underneath.

Provenance
Unknown provenance.
