Crowned couple playing chess (courting couple); king and queen; man with his left hand around the pole supporting the tent; lady holding chess pieces in her left hand; youth with a hawk on his wrist; lady holding a chaplet.

Back turned with a depression for (missing) mirror. Horizontal incision.

Object Condition
Probably missing the four corner terminals.

Comments
The companion piece to this mirror may be 1952.95 in the Harvard Art Museum (Cambridge, Mass.)

Provenance
Trivulzio collection, Milan (exhibited in 1874; in this collection until at least 1924). Brimo de Laroussilhe collection - Art Médiéval: exposition à l'occasion du centenaire de Brimo de Laroussilhe (Paris, 2008, no. 17); private collection, London (bought from Brimo de Laroussilhe, Paris, February 2010).
