Walrus ivory

Height: 93mm

Bishop on horseback with mitre; soldiers holding weapons including crossbows; men holding books.

Volbach 1923: Southern German, 14th century.

Unknown

Reverse
Carved in the round. Ink inscription under the base: '[...] aus einem Brandenburger (?) [...]'.

Object Condition
Hole under the base.
Missing: faces of some soldiers; part of the cross held by the bishop.

Comments
Very similar to Inv. 8529, which was destroyed during WWII.

Provenance
Donated to the Museum in 1909.
