Width: 68mm

Standing Virgin and Child; Christ seated on left arm; naked Christ (?); Virgin holding a flower in her right hand; saint Mary Magdalene with ointment pot; saint James the Greater with pilgrim's hat and staff.
Foliated corner terminals.

Molinier 1890: France, 14th century.
Randall 1985 and Museum's opinion 2010: North Italian, 1st quarter of 15th century. Similar to Koechlin 1116bis.

Back turned with a depression for (missing) mirror.

Object Condition
Hole at the lower edge from a flaw in the ivory. Drilled hole in the upper left corner terminal.

Frédéric Spitzer collection, Paris: sold, Chevallier and Mannheim, Paris, 17 April 1893, lot 123. Bought by Henry Walters from Léon Gruel in Paris in 1922; Walters Art Museum, 1931, by bequest.
