Gawain on the perilous bed; bed on wheels with bells; lion; spears and swords falling from the sky; maidens at the Château Merveil.

Jülich 2007: France (?), 2nd half of 14th century.

Hole in each corner for attachment of fittings (lost).

Comments
This piece would originally have been one the side panels of a casket.

Provenance
Collection of Baron von Hüpsch (b. 1730, d. 1805), Cologne; acquired in 1805 by the Museum; stolen in 1945 from the castle of Rauhenzell im Allgäu where the collections of the museum had been deposited.
