Traces of gilding and polychromy, two layers of polychromy, lower one is original.
Reverse
Flat; some relief on drapery at back.
Object Condition
Ivory cracked.
Missing: Virgin's right forearm and part of the left hand.Chips at edge of drapery and at knees; lower part damaged; modern metal support inserted in lower part.
Comments
This statuette probably belonged to the same group as the statuette of saint John the Evangelist formerly in the Desmottes collection (see Gaborit-Chopin 2003, fig. 95a). See related object.
