Wing, left
Register 1: saint Michael and the devil; saint John the Baptist holding the Lamb of God (Agnus Dei); camel hide.
Register 2: saint Clare as a nun holding a pyxis, censer or ointment pot; saint Catherine of Alexandria with wheel and martyr's palm.
Centre panel
Crucifixion with the Virgin and saint John the Evangelist; saint Peter holding a key; saint Paul holding a sheathed sword; rugged cross; titulus.
Wing, right
Register 1: saint Anthony abbot standing in flames with a tau-headed staff and bell; saint Christopher carrying Christ.
Register 2: saint Agnes with a lamb and book holding a martyr's palm; crown; saint Margaret emerging from the dragon holding a crucifix.
Crosshatched background. Trefoils and quatrefoils.

Leeuwenberg 1969: France (?), last quarter of the 18th century to 1st half of the 19th century.
Museum's opinion 2013: France (Paris), 2nd half of the 14th century.


Attribution
Master of the Agrafe Forgeries (Leeuwenberg 1969)

Hinges
Two hinges on either side.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Circular traces on the back of the centre panel.

Provenance
Collection of Peter and Irene Ludwig, Aachen (purchased in 1963 from Blumka, New York); on permanent loan to the Museum from 1963 to 2011; donated to the museum in 2011.
