Ivory

Height: 245 mm
Width: 120 mm
Depth: 12 mm

Register 1: Crucifixion, with jet of blood striking the Virgin's chest; swooning Virgin supported by Holy Women; saint John the Evangelist and onlookers holding scrolls; angel with hands clasped and angel crying; Sun and Moon on either side of the cross under the arches.
Register 2: Adoration of the Magi; angel crowning the Virgin.
Pinnacles.

Supino 1898: France, end of the 13th century.
Koechlin 1924: 19th century.
Chiesi 2011: Germany (?), c. 1350.


Attribution
Unknown

Hinges
Traces of two missing hinges on the right side.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Longer edges slightly chamfered.

Object Condition
Repairs where the hinges once were.

Comments
The right wing of this diptych is also in the Bargello collection (Inv. 96 C).

Provenance
Carrand collection: bequeathed by Louis Carrand (d. 1888) to the Museo del Bargello in 1888.
