Crucifixion with the Virgin and saint John the Evangelist; Sun and Moon.
Pointed trefoils.

Schweitzer 1910: Rhenish (French influence), 14th century.

Hinges
Traces of two missing hinges on the left side.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Remains of paper backing and glue. Remains of illegible inscription. Stains.

Object Condition
Pierced by a hole, centre top. Broken, lower centre around Christ's left leg.

Provenance
Collection of Anton Josef Essingh (b. 1787, d. 1864), Cologne: his sale, Heberle, 18 September 1865, lot 883; Osterwald collection, Cologne (until 1872); collection of Dr Peter Wings, Aachen; his bequest to the Museum in 1893.
