Brickwork or tiled roof; crosshatched background; sun and moon.

Richter 2003: French or Netherlandish, c. 1480.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of polychromy.

Reverse
Concave. The handle which was originally set into a chamfered slot in the back has been lost. The slot is cross-hatched, suggesting glue application.Label with ink inscription: 'Dr. Wings'. Scratched.

Object Condition
Worn. Central hole in the upper part of the pax.
Missing: lower right corner.

Provenance
Collection of Dr. Peter Wings, Aachen; his bequest to the Museum in 1893.
