Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of gilding: hair, along the neckline of the garment and on the object in the angel's right hand.

Reverse
Flat with crosshatching.

Object Condition
Missing: censer which the angel originally held in his right hand.

Provenance
Found in 1932 during the archaeological excavations at the Cistercian Abbey of Alvastra; accessioned to the museum collections in the same year.
