Reverse
Carved in the round. Extensive traces of red at the back of the Virgin's robe.Rectangular hole for attachment to a shrine or tabernacle.
Object Condition
Missing: head of Christ; crown; left hand of Christ (later replaced by wooden hand holding a fruit); ends of both feet of the Virgin.
Large chip in the lower part of the Virgin's robe at the front (caused by the iron spike attaching the statuette to its later base.
Comments
Randall 1985: Style related to a group of marble sculptures from the Liège region in the Meuse Valley, dating from c. 1340 to c. 1370.
