Vertical crack down the middle.
Comments
This panel was reused at some point to form the centre of a metalwork cross (see early photograph). It was separated from this cross before 1888 (see 1888 photograph).
Provenance
In the collection assembled by Alexandre Le Grand for the museum before 1888. Described in a pre-1888 handwritten inventory kept at the museum as: 'Plaque d'ivoire représentant le Christ en croix entouré des personnages de la passion XIVe siècle, agraffée sur une croix de Lorraine en cuivre repoussé ornée de pierreries.' (p. 7).
