Register 1: Crucifixion; swooning Virgin supported by Holy Women; saint John the Evangelist and onlookers holding scrolls.
Register 2: Martyrdom of Thomas Becket; ; three soldiers in armour; soldier striking saint Thomas on the head; cleric holding a cross; shield with lion head.

Hinges
Traces of two missing hinges on the left side.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Round label: 'MAGNIAC COLLECTION 256'. Incised monogram (?).

Object Condition
Broken around the hinges. Lower border chipped. Two holes in the upper part of the panel. Crucifixion damaged.

Collection of Hollingworth Magniac (b. 1786, d. 1867), London: his sale, Christie, Manion and Woods, London, 2 and 4 July 1892, lot 256. Collection of Frank McClean: his bequest to the Museum in 1904.
