Man plucking flowers from a tree; ladies making a wreath; dagger.
Pointed trefoils.


Koechlin Number: 1188

Koechlin 1924: France, 2nd half of the 14th century.
Randall 1993: France (North or Paris), 1340-1360.


Attribution
Atelier of the Boxes (Randall 1993)

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Numerous scratches and traces of erased inscription. Modern handwritten inscription: '181'.

Comments
Lacking both hinges and holes, this plaque could have served as an inlay or the lid of a box (Randall 1993).

Provenance
Collection of Herrmann Sax, Vienna: Sax sale, Vienna, Miethke, 4 December 1893, lot 127, with ill. Collection of Count Gregorii Stroganoff, Rome. Bought in 1957 thanks to the Edward Drummond Libbey Endowment.
