Seated Virgin and Child; crown; throne; Christ holding a fruit in his left hand; Christ sitting on the Virgin's left knee.
Pierced trefoils and quatrefoils in the gable.

Kube 1925: French, 14th century.
Erbach 1993: French, last quarter of the 13th century.
Kryzhanovskaya 2014: Northern France, 2nd half of the 13th century.

Hinges
Traces of two missing hinges on either side.

Polychromy - Gilding
Outline of a painted arch and tracery on the back

Reverse
Flat and smooth except along the left, right and lower edges which have some crosshatching. Outline of a painted arch and tracery.

Object Condition
Missing: forearm of the Virgin; one of Christ's fingers; pinnacles (which were slotted into holes; crosshatching on the upper surface of the central projection).
Crosshatching and hole on the underside for attachment onto a base.

Provenance
Acquired in 1886 in Vienna by the Stieglitz Museum of Applied Arts (no. 6735), Saint Petersburg; transferred to the Hermitage in 1926.
