Traces of two missing hinges on either side.

Polychromy - Gilding
Traces of gilding (hair; beards) and polychromy.

Reverse
Flat and smooth. Trace of a cross shape.
Inscription: '194', and ‘…lent by Mr Lucas, No 11’, written in a mid-19th-century hand.

Provenance
May have belonged to Richard Cockle Lucas (b. 1800, d. 1883), a sculptor, ivory carver and wax modeller and a connoisseur of medieval art (see inscription on the reverse). Sam Fogg, London, in July 2014.
